All may not end well for Shylock in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, but the fabled moneylender will get his due this fall. The Shakespeare in the Park production of The Merchant of Venice, starring Academy Award-winning actor Al Pacino, will transfer to Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre for a limited engagement beginning Oct. 19.
The Public Theater, Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel will present a limited 78-performance Broadway engagement of Merchant, which will continue through Jan. 9, 2011. Pacino is the only cast member announced to reprise his performance. Additional casting and an on-sale date will be announced shortly.
